From Article VI, Section B of the current By-laws:
PRESIDENT – The President shall be the principal executive officer of the organization. The president shall be responsible for the optimum operation of the organization. The President, when present, shall preside at all meetings of the Executive Board, and all meetings of the membership. The President shall only vote in the case of a tie in a vote of the Executive Board or the membership. The President shall coordinate, with the Principal, the annual calendar of activities and events. The President shall be responsible for the preparation of the monthly report in the PTO newsletter. The President shall work directly with the Executive Board, and committee chair people, and shall be an ex-officio member of all committees of the organization. The President shall also maintain structure and flow for entire board and shall guide the decision process.
VICE-PRESIDENT – The Vice-President shall, in the absence of the President, perform the duties of the President. The Vice-President shall appoint all chairpersons for all committees, keeping a list of all volunteers, and coordinating with other Vice-Presidents. The Vice-President shall guide other board members and help in the decision making process. The Vice-President shall assume presidential responsibilities if the elected President is unable to fulfill responsibilities for whatever reason.
VICE-PRESIDENT ELEMENTARY – The Vice-President for Elementary shall oversee all events associated with Pre-K through Fifth grade, i.e., pancake breakfast and field trips. The Vice-President for Elementary shall work closely with the Vice-President, Pre-K to Second Grade and Third Grade to Fifth Grade Parent/Teacher Liaisons and room parents.
VICE-PRESIDENT MIDDLE SCHOOL – The Vice-President for Middle School shall oversee all events associated with the Middle School, i.e., pride social, sports, 8th grade promotion. The Vice-President for Middle School shall work closely with the vice-president, Middle School Parent/Teacher Liaison and room parents.
VICE-PRESIDENT OF WAYS AND MEANS – The Vice-President of Ways and Means shall be the fundraising coordinator and support all events involved with making money for the school, i.e., auction, spring carnival, fall fundraiser. The Vice-President of Ways and Means shall work closely with all Vice-Presidents, all Parent/Teacher Liaison’s, all room parents, and the Treasurer.
VICE-PRESIDENT OF PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES – The Vice-President of Programs and Activities shall help organize and schedule school events, i.e., non-money events, sock hop, science night, Read Across America, Red Ribbon Week. The Vice-President of Programs and Activities shall work closely with all Vice-Presidents, room parents, and all Parent/Teacher Liaisons.
PARENT/TEACHER LIAISON Pre-K to Second Grade – The Parent/Teacher Liaison for Pre-K to Second Grade shall help keep the teachers happy; find out how the PTO can help them; aid in the communication between the organization, teaching staff, and parents; and organize room parent responsibilities for Pre-K through Second Grade. The Parent/Teacher Liaison for Pre-K to Second Grade shall work closely with all members of the Executive Board, teachers and room parents for Pre-K to Second Grade and report findings to the Executive Board.
PARENT/TEACHER LIAISON Third Grade to Fifth Grade – The Parent/Teacher Liaison for Third Grade to Fifth Grade shall help keep the teachers happy; find out how the PTO can help them; aid in the communication between the organization, teaching staff, and parents; and organize room parent responsibilities for Third Grade to Fifth Grade. The Parent/Teacher Liaison for Third Grade to Fifth Grade shall work closely with all members of the Executive Board, teachers and room parents for Third Grade to Fifth Grade and report findings to the Executive Board.
PARENT/TEACHER LIAISON Sixth Grade to Eighth Grade – The Parent/Teacher Liaison for Sixth Grade to Eighth Grade shall help keep the teachers happy; find out how the PTO can help them; aid in the communication between the organization, teaching staff, and parents; and organize room parent responsibilities for Sixth Grade to Eighth Grade.
